About

Blind Birds is an independent one-man game studio founded by Fabian Bierend in Bonn, Germany. The studio was created with the goal of crafting atmospheric, story-driven games that explore complex themes while remaining first and foremost engaging entertainment.

Working solo means every aspect of development is handled in-house. From design and programming to writing and world-building. This independence allows us to follow a personal vision without compromise, while also collaborating with external artists or musicians where needed.

Philosophy

At its heart, Blind Birds is about shining a light on the stories and systems people often choose to look away from. The name itself is a metaphor: society as a flock of birds, closing their eyes to avoid seeing the darker sides of the world.

While the games may deal with heavy themes such as social injustice, exploitation, and abuse of power, they are not designed as “serious games.” Instead, they aim to weave these subjects into immersive and atmospheric gameplay, where players can engage with them at their own pace.

For the Record

The studio’s debut project, For the Record, is a slow-paced, tactical first-person shooter that blends stylized retro visuals with modern storytelling. Players step into the role of a contract killer who relives his past jobs through VHS tapes, gradually uncovering the hidden truths behind the assignments.

Through its combination of tense gameplay, environmental storytelling, and optional collectibles, For the Record invites players to reflect on the cost of violence and the systems that allow injustice to persist while delivering a gripping and atmospheric shooter experience.
